Jordan executes two al-Qaeda prisoners

Amman, Feb 4 (IBNS): Two al-Qaeda prisoners were executed by hanging early on Wednesday morning in Jordan, media reports said.

Government spokesman Mohammed al-Momani said the duo was identified as Sajida al-Rishawi and Ziad al-Karbouly.

Sources said the development was confirmed just hours after Islamic State (IS) militants released a video showing a captured Jordanian pilot being burned alive in a cage. Jordan also confirmed the pilot’s death and vowed a swift and lethal

The killing of the pilot angered Jordanians triggering worldwide condemnation right from US President Barack Obama and the UN Security Council.
