New Delhi, Dec 6 (IBNS): Supreme Court judge Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar has been announced as the next Chief Justice of India.

Present Chief Justice of India TS Thakur, whose term ends on Jan 3, on Tuesday recommended Khehar's name for the post.

The 64-year-old Justice will take up office on January 4.
