Karnataka hotelier arrested in connection with Gauri Lankesh murder

Bengaluru, Aug 9 (IBNS): A Special Investigating Team (SIT) has arrested one person from north Karnataka in connection with the murder of journalist Gauri Lankesh, so far capturing altogether eleven of the 12 accused in the case, reports said.

The latest arrest was made from Belgaum, a district town. The man, Bharat Kurne, a local resident, is said to be a hotel owner.

He was picked up for having the connection with Amal Kale, the alleged mastermind of the crime and Parashuram Waghmare, the alleged shooter and the prime accused in the case.

Prime accused Parashuram Waghmare is believed to have undergone firearms training in the forests of north Karnataka.

The eleventh man, suspected to have provided shelter to the man who shot Gauri Lankesh, had been arrested on July 25 in Tumakuru.
