Karnataka: Man trampled to death by a wild elephant

Madikeri, Karnataka, May 3(UNI) Tension prevailed for some time following a wild elephant trampled to death a man near Kutta in the Kodagu on Friday.

Police said as the news spread, the Coffee growers and farmers launched a flash protest across the district.

Agitators did not allow the police to remove the body and resorted to Road block.
The victim was identified as Kayamani of Kutta Village.

They demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakhs to the next kin of the dead and permanent solution for preventing frequent elephant attacks in the district. Protest was also held in Virajpet and Sunitkoppa also.

Senior forest officials from Mysuru rushed to the spot and discussed the issues with the protesting people.
