Kashmir: CRPF jawan allegedly attempts to commit suicide by shooting self in Srinagar

Srinagar/UNI: A CRPF jawan was critically injured when he allegedly attempted to commit suicide by shooting self with his service rifle in the summer capital, Srinagar, on Friday.

Official sources said that a jawan from 61 battalion of CRPF allegedly shot himself with his service rifle at Dal Gate in Srinagar on Friday morning.

"The jawan was critically injured," they said, adding the wounded was rushed to Army’s 92 base hospital, where his health condition is stated to be critical.

It was not immediately clear why he tried to end his life, they said, adding that police have registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident.
