Kashmir: Gun-battle between forces and terrorists underway, woman dies in crossfire

Srinagar, Jul 1 (IBNS): A civilian died in crossfire on Saturday morning as forces have engaged in a gun battle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, reports said.

A police was quoted as saying by NDTV, "Security forces were fired at when they launched an operation in Batpora village after a tip-off about the terrorists hiding in a house. In the cross firing, the woman was wounded and later succumbed to her injuries."

The deceased has been identified as Tahira, 44.

She was rushed to a hospital but was declared brought dead upon reaching the facility.

The operation by security forces was launched based on intel about the presence of at least three terrorists, including Basheer Lashkari, a top Lashkar-e-Taiba militant.
