Kashmir issue: Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif attacks India

Islamabad, Sept 7 (IBNS): In a major development which may further deteriorate relationship between the two neighbouring nations, Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif has said the 'struggle of Kashmir people' do not resides in 'raining bullets'.

"The true solution for this struggle for self-determination resides not in raining bullets upon the defenceless Kashmiri people but in heeding to their voice and respecting their aspirations,” Sharif was quoted as saying y Dawn News.

Meanwhile, an unanimous resolution adopted by all political parties in India on Wednesday  appealed for peace and dialogue to bring normalcy restive Kashmir, while emphasising that there could be no compromise on the nation's sovereignty and integrity, reports said.

The resolution was released  after a three-hour-long meeting in Delhi of parliamentarians from 20 parties who had recently visited Jammu and Kashmir, where at least 75 people have been killed and about 10,000 injured during violent protests over the last two months.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the meeting.

According to reports, the resolution has asked the central and state government to hold dialogues with  all stakeholders and called for ensuring security of citizens and security forces in the valley.

At Wednesday's meeting,  not a single national opposition party accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti's government in Jammu and Kashmir of failing to handle the situation, media reports said.

The unrest in Kashmir  began on July 8 after the encounter death of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh said those who participated at the meeting appealed for taking steps to reopen schools and other institutions in Kashmir.

He said the Government is open to discussion with all.
