Kashmir: Two LeT militants killed in Anantnag encounter

Srinagar/UNI: Two Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, including a top commander, were killed by security forces in an encounter which ensued during a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the wee hours of Saturday, official sources said.

They said on a tip off about the presence of militants, troops of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint operation at Sangam in Anantnag district late Friday night.

During the operation, an encounter ensued between militants hiding there and security forces.

Two LeT militants were killed in the encounter, the source said, adding that the bodies of both the militants and arms and ammunition were recovered. One of the slain militant has been identified as Furqan, a top LeT commander.

Meanwhile, additional security forces have been deployed in the adjacent areas to prevent any demonstration, they said.
