Kerala 'love jihad' case: Supreme Court upholds girl's consent in marriage

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 30 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the girl's consent in the marriage in the Kerala 'love jihad case' where a 24-year old was allegedly indoctrinated by her husband into Islam, media reports said.

The Supreme Court said the girl's consent is paramount as she is an adult now.

Hadiya's marriage with Shafin Jahan was declared annulled by lower court earlier after the girl's father complained that she had been indoctrinated into Islam religion.

The Supreme Court has ordered the girl to take part in an open court interaction on November 27.

Following the declaration of his marriage as annulled, Hadiya's husband Shafin had petitioned the apex court urging to overturn the order passed by the lower court.
