Kerala: Overturn of car leads to death of five

Kottayam, Apr 8 (UNI): Five persons were killed and another was critically injured after a car in which they were travelling overturned after it rammed into a house near the Manathoor church Junction along the Pala-Thodupuzha state highway in this district on Sunday evening.

Police said the driver of the car lost control over the vehicle while overtaking another vehicle and initially hit a tree, later a compound wall on the wayside and overturned after rammed into a house.

Four passengers were thrown off the vehicle. Two others who were trapped inside the vehicle were taken out after cutting open the mangled car. Of them, five were killed on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Vishnuraj (27), Vijayaraj (28), Pramod Soman (27), Sudhi George (27) and Ullas (38) of Kadanad in this district.

Prabhath, who sustained injuries critically has been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital, Kottayam.

Preliminary investigations attributed due to speed and drunk driving.
