Kiran Bedi takes pillion ride at night to inspect road safety in Puducherry

| | Aug 20, 2017, at 05:22 pm
Puducherry, Aug 20 (IBNS): In her attempt to inspect how safe Puducherry nights are for women, Lt governor Kiran Bedi undertook a pillion ride on a two-wheeler on Friday night.

According to The Times of India, Bedi was shocked as there was no police presence on roads or public places in the town limits in the Union territory of Puducherry.

After her inspection, Bedi said that Puducherry appeared safe for women.

However, she has instructed the director general of police to launch new measures to prevent crime.

"Puducherry seemed safe. But there was not a single cop spotted anywhere — unless they too were in disguise. There were several triple riders, who were over speeding. Also, there were noisy bikes without silencers. Certain measures will be put in place to improve night-time security," Bedi was quoted as by TOI.

She also posted a video of her venture at night.
