The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has named Bengali film actress Koel Mallick and former West Bengal Director General of Police Rajiv Kumar among four candidates nominated for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.

Rajiv Kumar served as the Director General of Police (DGP) of West Bengal from July 2024 until his retirement on January 31, 2026.

The other nominees include former Union Minister Babul Supriyo, who switched from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to the Trinamool Congress, and senior advocate Menaka Guruswamy.

Announcing the candidates on X, the All India Trinamool Congress said: “We are pleased to announce the candidature of Babul Supriyo, Rajeev Kumar (Former DGP, West Bengal), Menaka Guruswamy and Koel Mallick for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.”

The party added, “We extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to them. May they continue to uphold Trinamool’s enduring legacy of resilience and its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of every Indian.”

The announcement comes ahead of the state Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in the coming months.
