Kolkata, Oct 30 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation probing different chit fund scams, including Sarada and Rose Valley, under the Supreme Court directive, has arrested Pailan Group chairman and MD Apurba Saha.

He has been arrested by the probe agency in relation to an alleged Rs 500-Crore chit fund scam.

The central investigating agency picked up Saha from a railway station on his arrival from New Delhi on Tuesday and was quizzed for more than three hours by the CBI in its office before being arrested and taking him into their custody.

Sources said the CBI arrested Saha after he was found to have allegedly cheated over Rs 500 crore of the poor investors and tried to distract the agency while being questioned.

In August last, one of the group's director Bipin Kumar Singh was arrested by the CBI.

The CBI believe that Pailan Group had collected more than Rs 500 crore from the market through different chit fund scams by assuring a high rate of interest.

Saha’s city residence at Ballygunge Park ( south Kolkata) and his four offices spread in North and South 24 Parganas were also searched by the CBI.

" He was arrested on Tuesday evening. We have seized several crucial documents from his offices,” the CBI said.
