Kolkata plywood godown fire brought under control

Kolkata, Feb 2 (IBNS): The fire which broke out in a plywood godown at Bow Bazaar area in Kolkata on Monday has been brought under control, officials said.

Around 35 fire engines rushed to the spot and firefighters fought for four hours to bring the flames under control.

The Disaster Management Group (DMG) of Kolkata Police also joined the rescue operation.

There has been no report of any injury or casualty so far.

The Lady Dufferin hospital is located just opposite to the plywood godown.

The actual cause of the fire is not known yet.

The Mayor of Kolkata Shovan Chatterjee went to the spot.

The police said that many combustible substance were stored inside the godown which did not have a fire extinguisher.

The police said legal action would be taken against the godown owner.
