Kolkata: Police uncover fake currency racket

Kolkata, Mar 2 (IBNS): The Special Task Force (STF) of the Kolkata Police has uncovered a racket in fake currency notes here.

The police have recovered some fake currency printing machines, stamp papers and huge number of fake currencies of India, Turkey, Zimbabwe and of some other countries from Manicktala and Domjur areas.

Deputy commissioner of STF Amit Javalgi said, "From his residence in Manicktala, we have seized fake currency notes, industrial equipment, chemicals, stamps and cheques. We also seized 20 4G internet dongles and unused SIM cards purchased from Kolkata.”

STF officials said that one resident of Manicktala area was arrested with fake currency notes worth 2 lakh from Bowbazar area in Kolkata on Feb 27 .

After interrogating him, police came to know about these two godowns located at Manicktala and Domjur area and carried out raids there.
