Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Three more arrested, say sources

Lakhimpur Kheri/UNI: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested three more accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence of Oct 3 in which eight people were killed including four farmers and a journalist.

Now, a total of 13 people including Ashish Mishra Monu, son of Union minister of state for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, have been arrested so far.

Of the arrested people, eight have been in police remand while Ashish and Ankit Das were on police remand since Friday evening.

Sources said on Saturday SIT arrested Mohit Trivedi, Dharmendra Singh and Rinku Rana.

All the three newly arrested persons were reported to be travelling in the SUV behind the Thar vehicle which crushed the farmers.

Of the arrested earlier, nine are in district jail or in police custody while two Luvkysh and Ashish Pandey, who were injured in the violence, are getting treatment at Police lines hospital.

Meanwhile , on Saturday, SIT will bring all the accused together at one place and then will cross examine them.
