Lalu Prasad tries to mend rift between SP party chief Mulayam and UP CM Akhilesh

Patna, Dec 31 (TheBiharPost/IBNS): RJD president Lalu Prasad on Saturday made efforts to bring truce in the SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav's family a day after Mulayam expelled his chief minister son Akhilesh Yadav from the party.

Reports quoting media sources said the RJD chief talked to both the SP chief and the UP chief minister separately, and urged them to stay together at this crucial time to defeat the BJP.

The assembly elections in UP is scheduled early next year and the EC is set to announce dates of polls very soon.

“Cracks in the party will benefit the BJP. Hence, it will be in your interest if you stay together,” a local TV news channel quoted Lalu Prasad as telling Mulayam and his son.

Reports said the RJD chief talked to the SP leaders twice and appealed them to be united.

Lalu Prasad happens to be related to SP chief Mulayam. Prasad’s youngest daughter Raj Laxami is married to Mulayam’s grand nephew.
