Lockdown day 10: India's COVID-19 +ve cases breach 3000-mark, toll at 75

New Delhi/UNI: On the 10th day of national lockdown on Saturday as many as 3072 positive cases were reported across the country, with 75 deaths, while 183 people have so far recovered from this deadly disease.

The country witnessed a doubling of the number of COVID-19 cases in the past week, with 328 more cases and 12 deaths reported on April 2.

Active COVID-19 cases are now 2784 across the country. Seven more deaths have been reported since morning, as per the government data, taking the total to 75.

Worldwide, the number of COVID-19 cases hit one million, with more than 50,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.

Addressing a press conference here, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary in the Union Health Ministry, said, of the total cases, about 30 per cent or 1023 cases are related to those, who either came in contact with or attended the Tablighi Jamaat religious congregation organised at Nizamuddin Markaz, last month.

These cases were reported from Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Andaman & Nicobar, Rajasthan and Arunachal Pradesh.

He informed that 58 critical cases have been reported so far in the country, mostly from Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi.

Maharashtra has emerged as the worst affected state in the country after 47 fresh cases of Coronavirus was registered by health department here on Friday taking the tally to 537.The new cases have been reported from Mumbai--28 , Thane--15, Amravati--1, Pune--2 and 1 in Pimpri Chinchwad.

With this, the total number of positive cases in the state has risen to 537.
