New Delhi: Indian PM Narendra Modi on Monday tweeted to wish new Israeli PM Naftali Bennett and said he is looking forward to meeting and deepening the strategic partnership between our two countries.

He also wished outgoing PM Benjamin Netanyahu and said: "As you complete your successful tenure as the Prime Minister of the State of Israel, I convey my profound gratitude for your leadership and personal attention to India-Israel strategic partnership @netanyahu."

Naftali Bennett, leader of the Yamina right-wing political alliance, on Sunday sworn-in as the new Prime Minister of Israel, unseating Benjamin Netanyahu after 12 years at the helm of power.

The country's Parliament Knesset voted in favor of swearing in the new Israeli coalition government created by Netanyahu’s opponents after years of political instability.

Under the agreements, Bennett will then be replaced by Yair Lapid, the chief of Israel's largest opposition party Yesh Atid.

During the voting, he was supported by 60 Israeli lawmakers and 59 voted against the initiative.

The ministers are due to be sworn in and then conduct the first cabinet meeting.
