Lucknow gangrape: Medical college security guard arrested
Lucknow, July 20 (IBNS): A security guard of a medical college hospital has been arrested in connection with the gangrape and murder of a 32-year-old old lab assistant in Uttar Pradesh's capital city Lucknow, reports said.
According to reports, security guard Ramsevak Yadav of the SG PGI Medical college is the key suspect in the case.
He was detained along with two others earlier in the day.
The incident came to light on Thursday when when the nude, badly-mutilated body of the woman was spotted near a primary school in Balsingh Khera village of Mohanlalganj tehsil in Lucknow by a watchman.
The victim used to work at a prestigious hospital in the city.
Autopsy report later revealed that she was killed the previous day.
The report stated that the woman had died due to hemorrhage caused by multiple injuries, 12 including on her private parts.
While, pressure is mounting up over the inaction of the Uttar Pradesh government in combating crimes against women, ruling Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh triggered fresh controversy with his remark that the percentage of rape in the state is much less as compared to its population.
Mulayam said that the population of Uttar Pradesh is 21 crore and each and every crime cannot be checked in the state.
“The police take action against the criminals if such cases take place,” he said when asked for his reaction on the issue and the deteriorating law and order scenario of the state.
Akhilesh Yadav-led SP government in Uttar Pradesh came to the focal point of criticism in May this year following the brutal incident of two cousin sisters found hanging from a tree after their alleged rape in a village in Badaun.
