M Karunanidhi admitted to hospital, stable

Chennai, July 28 (IBNS): Ex-Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK patriarch Karunanidhi was shifted to a hospital in Chennai on Friday after his conditions declined due to blood pressure issues, media reports said.

 

The DMK chief was admitted following a drop in blood pressure and it has been stabilised after treatment, the Kauvery Hospital told The Hindu.

"DMK president and former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M. Karunanidhi has been admitted on July 28, 2018 in the intensive care unit of the Kauvery Hospital at 1.30 a.m. following a drop in blood pressure. His blood pressure has been stabilised with medical management and he continues to be monitored and treated by a panel of expert doctors," the hospital said in a bulletin.

The DMK leader was suffering from  fever and infection for the past few days.

He was being treated at his home till last night.

Several top Indian leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed their concerns over Karunanidhi's health and wished him a speedy recovery.

On Friday, Tamil Nadu ministers and actor-turned-politician Kamal Hassan visited Karunanidhi at his Gopalapuram residence.

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Paneerselvam was among the ministers who visited the DMK chief's house.
