Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath, son Nakul, call on PM Modi

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI): A fortnight after the heat and dust of electoral bitterness have settled, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and his newly-elected lawmaker son Nakul Nath called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Thursday and discussed developmental issues.

"Today, along with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, we had a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and discussed developmental issues concerning the state," the Chindwara MP, Nakul Nath tweeted.

Mr Nath is the lone Congress MP out of 29 from Madhya Pradesh in the new Lok Sabha having won his father's traditional Chindwara seat.

The Lok Sabha election outcome was a major setback for the Congress within months after it came to power in the central Indian state in December 2018.

The meeting between the father-son duo with Prime Minister comes in the wake of fierce political battle between BJP and Congress over various issues including the alleged use of money power in the just concluded Lok Sabha elections.

In April, houses of close associates of Kamal Nath were raided by Income Tax department and huge cache of currency were reportedly confiscated.

Immediately after the Lok Sabha polls, Madhya Pradesh politics also experienced turf war between Congress and BJP with the latter claiming that Kamal Nath's ministry could be toppled soon.
