Maharashtra government confirms exclusion of 29 villages from VVMC before Bombay HC

Thane, Apr 23 (UNI) The Bombay High Court on Tuesday received Maharashtra government's confirmatory nod to May 31, 2011 notification which pertains to the exclusion of 29 villages from the Vasai Virar City Municipal Corporation(VVMC) limits.

The government pleader Venkatesh Dhound affirmed before the High Court bench comprising Justice Gavai and Justice Naidu that these 29 villages located in Vasai town will be removed from VVMC's ambit,and the final decision over the issue will be taken on April 30.


Reacting to the government's stance, former MLA Vivek Pandit extended a note of gratitude towards Maharashtra government,the Bombay High Court,and senior advocates.


He thanked Jana Andolan Samiti and the villagers for showing unity during legal battle for non-inclusion of these villages under the VVMC limits.
