Maharashtra government formation: Uddhav Thackeray, Sharad Pawar meet late night
Mumbai/IBNS: Escalating chances that Maharashtra might soon see a government formation, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray and son Aaditya Thackeray met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar at his residence on Thursday night.
According to media reports, the formation of the Shiv Sena-led 'Maha Vikas Aghadi' might be announced on Friday.
This could take place after the çomplete unanimity' between Congress and NCP over supporting Shiv Sena.
As the Presidential rule is in place in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena, which broke its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is looking to form the government with the NCP and Congress.
After the poll results which came out on Oct 24, the Sena had demanded 50:50 power share in the government and rotational Chief Ministership which were rejected by the BJP.
Following the rejection of the demands, the Sena and BJP parted their ways.
The BJP has 105 seats, 40 less than the majority (145) while the Sena won 56 seats.
The NCP and Congress, which fought the polls in an alliance, have 54 and 44 seats respectively.
