Maharashtra: Man held in ATM fraud

Palghar, Jul 16 (UNI) A 28-year-old was arrested by the district police in an alleged ATM card fraud case, the police said on Tuesday.

A victim registered a complaint against the accused. Subsequently, the police carried out investigations. During the probe, they checked CCTV footage. Then, they nabbed him.

According to the police, on June 14 when the victim had gone to an ATM to withdraw some cash, he could not get a cash. Meanwhile, the accused, identified as Rohit Pandey, approached him and said that he would help him and replaced victim's ATM card with a fake one.

During the probe, the police seized as many as 47 ATM cards from the accused, who is a resident of Vasai.

The investigations further revealed that he had used the cards for transactions to the tune of Rs 10.73 lakh.

The police have so far recovered a total of Rs 7.90 lakh worth goods he had purchased with the help of the ATM cards, the police added.
