Mamata calls by-polls result as 'miracle'

Kolkata, Feb 16 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday termed her party's victory in the by-elections in the state as a 'miracle'.

Banerjee tweeted: "This is a miracle result. People's magic... They have bowled all the controversies out."

Mamata Banerjee's TMC retained both the Bongaon Lok Sabha and Krishnaganj Assembly seats.

TMC's Mamatabala Thakur won by a margin of more than 2,11,794 votes in the Bongaon (SC) Lok Sabha seat.

Mamatabala Thakur won 5,39,990 votes while CPI-M’s Debesh Das secured 3,28,196 votes as results of the by-poll was declared on Monday.

BJP’s candidate Subrata Thakur got 3,14,119 votes.

TMC candidate Satyajit Biswas won in Krishnaganj Assembly Constituency by a margin of 37,033 votes.

In the poll, Biswas secured 95,469 votes

BJP's Manabendra Roy got 58,436 votes and stood in the second spot.

TMC was of late cornered over the Saradha chit fund scam probe with several of its leaders facing CBI interrogation and a few landing behind bars.
