Eluru May 24 (UNI): A man, who staked Rs 12 lakh on Telugu Desam Party coming to power again, committed suicide by consuming pesticide at Velivennu village in Undajavaram Mandal in West Godavari district on Friday.

Police said that the deceased Kanthamaneni Verraju trusted the exit poll results, released by former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on May 19.

The former MP predicted that the ruling Telugu Desam party would come to power again by winning 110 to 130 seats.

Trusting strongly on the former MP’s exit poll results, the deceased man staked Rs 12 lakh on the Telugu Desam party on its coming to power again.

As against the former MP’s prediction, the YSRCP registered a landslide victory by winning 151 Assembly seats. The deceased man who staked on TDP’s win lost the money.

Unable to digest the loss Rs 12 lakh in election betting, he consumed pesticide.

His family member shifted him to the government general hospital in Tanuku, where he was declared brought dead.

The police registered a case and investigating.
