Man dies by suicide in Uttar Pradesh, accuses wife’s family of harassment
Barabanki (UP): A 25-year-old man, Sudheer Kumar, died by suicide in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, leaving behind a note accusing his wife’s family of harassment. Kumar also shared a Facebook post titled “Hamari Adhoori Kahani” (Our Incomplete Story), which included pictures from his court wedding and marriage certificate, media reports said.
Sudheer had reportedly been in a relationship with Komal for four years and married her in court six months ago, NDTV reported.
However, he alleged that Komal’s family strongly opposed their marriage and subjected him to harassment.
In his note, Sudheer claimed that Komal’s brother, Ayush, who was also his roommate, initially supported their relationship. However, opposition from Komal’s parents led to conflict.
According to Sudheer, Komal had insisted on getting married but stopped communicating with him after informing her family about the court marriage.
“Komal, her mother, and her brother Ayush asked me to die,” Sudheer alleged in his note, according to the report.
Sudheer’s body was discovered hanging from a tree near his home on Wednesday morning.
His family members alleged that Komal’s parents were pressuring him to agree to a divorce, but he refused unless Komal herself requested it.
Police officer Santosh Kumar confirmed that the body had been sent for an autopsy, and Sudheer’s family has filed a complaint.
A probe into the allegations is underway.
