Man tries to bury alive daughter in Tripura, arrested

Tripura, Jan 17 (IBNS): A man, identified as Abul Hussein, was arrested in Tripura for allegedly trying to bury his 10-year-old daughter alive in the backyard of his residence, media reports said.

The incident took place at a village close to the India-Bangladesh border.

Police sources said the man’s dislike for his daughter made him to do so.

Hussein dug up a pit in his backyard while his wife was out. He then put his daughter in the pit, hands tied up, mouth taped and filled earth up to the chest level.

He also place bamboo-drum over his daughter’s head intending to bury her later as his wife had suddenly returned home.

Later, as her wife raised an alarm the girl was discovered by neighbours who beat up the man and called the police. The accused booked under charges of attempt-to-murder.
