New Delhi, Apr 13 (IBNS): After Priyanka Gandhi rebuked her estranged cousin brother Varun Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh's Sultanpur on Saturday, the later's mother and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Maneka Gandhi has now defended her son.
"If serving the country is a path then who has diverted from the right track will be decided by the country itself," Maneka told mediapersons.

Attacking her estranged cousin Varun Gandhi, Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Gandhi has said her brother, who is a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Lok Sabha polls, is on the wrong path.

"Varun ia a member of the Gandhi family but he is on wrong path," she said while addressing a rally in Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday.

She said her cousin brother needs the support of elders and the people of Sultanpur to be on the right track.

"When one loses his way, elders help him to get back on right track. I urge the people of Sultanpur to help him get back to the right path," she said.

Priyanka's attack on Varun in Sultanpur holds significance as the latter is contesting the Lok Sabha elections from the same constituency.

Earlier according to reports and TV footage,Varun Gandhi appreciated Rahul Gandhi for implementation of schemes that helped small scale industries in Amethi.
