Manipur: Three Myanmar nationals arrested at Moreh

| @indiablooms | Oct 23, 2023, at 12:18 am

Three Myanmar nationals were apprehended by a team of Special Commando, Manipur Police while conducting foot patrolling at border town Moreh on Sunday.

Police said they were stealing furniture items/electric generators from the houses which were burnt down during the recent clashes. They were handed over to the Moreh Police Station for thorough verification.

All the houses belonging to the Meitei community were completely destroyed after they were attacked by another community on May 3 last.
Police identified the three persons as Khamkhenthang Guite , Aung Mae and Aung Aung .

Some Manipur Police personnel were airlifted to Moreh as Kuki organizations protested deployment of police in the border town.

Chief Minister, Biren Singh said in a social network platform, “It is apparent that these organizations do not want the presence of state forces in Moreh so that many of these Myanmarese nationals can be brought into the country.

The state government cannot be silent on such an alarming issue of illegal migration.”
