Massive fire breaks out in Kolkata's Khidirpur market, over 1,000 shops gutted

Kolkata/IBNS: Over 1,000 shops were gutted after a massive fire broke out at the Khidirpur market in Kolkata, media reports said.

The blaze, which started at 1 am, spread rapidly through multiple shops at Khidirpur Dog market.

The fire engines worked for the entire night to bring the flames under control.

The cause of the fire is yet unknown.

However, locals have complained that the fire tenders didn't reach the spot on time.
