Mayawati attacks Yogi Adityanath, says both ‘Ali and Bajrangbali are our own'
Lucknow, Apr 13 (IBNS): Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Saturday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath over the ‘Ali and Bajrangbali’ issue while campaigning for the alliance in Uttar Pradesh.
Her comments came after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday compared Lok Sabha polls to contest between Hindu god Hanuman and revered figure in Islam Ali.
"Both Ali and Bajrangbali are close to us," the CM said while addressing a rally.
"We want both of them," she said while addressing a rally in Badaun.
Mayawati's BSP and Samajwadi Party are contesting the Lok Sabha polls together in Uttar Pradesh.
Yogi Adityanath, Mayawati get notice from Election Commission for making 'communal' remark
The Election Commission has served showcause notices to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati, for violating the Election Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during their speeches.
The notices were served to both the leaders on Thursday night and they have been given 24 hours to submit their replies.
Adityanath made remarks on "Ali" and "Bajrang Bali," while addressing a rally in Meerut.
Mayawati too was given the notice over appealing to the Muslims community to back the grand alliance candidate in Deoband, during a joint rally on Apr 7.
The Chief Minister's statement came after Mayawati appealed to Muslims not to support the Congress, as they were the only party fighting the BJP.
