Meat ban : Chhattisgarh follows suit

| | Sep 11, 2015, at 07:48 pm
Raipur, Sept 11 (IBNS) Amid a controversy already raging in Mumbai and Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh has declared an eight-day ban on sale of meat to become the fourth BJP-ruled state to take such an action.

The Chhattisgarh government announced the ban on Thursday making it effective till September 17.

Simlar ban had already been imposed in parts of Mumbai, Rajasthan and Gujarat on account of various festivals, including that of the Jain community.

The ban order in Mumbai was challenged by mutton traders and opposed by several political parties, including ruling BJP's ally Shiv Sena.
