Shillong: The Meghalaya police have arrested a man for allegedly raping and killing a minor girl in West Garo Hills district, police said on Monday.

The accused, identified as Chanda M. Sangma, whom police described as a habitual offender in rape, molestation, and criminal intimidation, was arrested on Sunday night from Jangrapara village under Phulbari police station.

The accused, who went into hiding after committing the heinous crime on August 1, was spotted by the villagers, who later alerted the police.
