Mehbooba Mufti chairs high level meeting in Srinagar, calls for restraint

Srinagar, Apr 25 (IBNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti directed the security agencies to undertake youth counseling and ensure that no collateral damage will take place while dealing with law and order situations.

“Culprits will be brought to justice if anyone is found spreading hatred against a section of society or in the name of a social cause. If need be strict provisions of law will be slapped on such hate mongers who are found taking law into their own hands,” the Chief Minister said while chairing high level unified commanders meeting in Srinagar on Tuesday.

She also directed the security agencies to improve the Public-Security Force interface and make it a regular affair while holding counseling sessions for youth.

The Chief Minister said that youth are unfortunately caught in the cycle of misinformation.

“Youth engagement should be prioritized rather than viewing it as a routine law and order issue and care should be taken to avoid as well as minimize all collateral damage while conducting operations,” Mufti said.

Mehbooba Mufti also directed that parents of youth be taken into confidence as and when there is some complaint about any youth, no way should the family be held accountable for the deeds of the said youth.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh and top brass of Civil administration, Army, Police, BSF, CRPF, Central and State Intelligence Agencies were present at the meeting.
