Mehul Choksi's Antigua citizenship will be scrapped, says Government of Island Nation

New Delhi, June 25 (IBNS): The Antigua citizenship of Mehul Choksi- an accused in the 13,000-crore Punjab National Bank (PNB)- will be scrapped, said the Government of the Island Nation on Tuesday, media reports stated.

The citizenship will be scrapped as soon as Choksi will exhaust all his legal options.

The scrapping of the citizenship will pave the way for Choksi's extradition to India.

"His citizenship was processed; he got through but the reality is his citizenship will be revoked and he will be repatriated to India; so there is recourse," Antigua Prime Minister Gaston Brown told Antigua Observer.

Choksi's nephew and diamond czar Nirav Modi is the another prime accused in the case. Both fled India in Jan 2018.

Choksi was granted citizenship of Antigua and Barbuda in 2017.
