Metro Railway runs 161 services on Christmas

Kolkata, Dec 26 (IBNS): In anticipation of heavy rush of commuters on Christmas , Metro Railway, Kolkata on Monday said it had arranged special Metro services for the benefit of the commuters and ran a total number of 161 services instead of 110 services as run on normal Sundays.

The passenger count went up to 4.42 lacs which is 1.35 lacs more than the previous Sunday’s record. On previous Sunday, 3.07 lacs passengers rode the Metro, read a government statement.

Metro’s earnings from passenger fare was Rs.40.67 lacs as compared to Rs. 29.11 lacs of the previous Sunday.        

"It is mentioned that on two consecutive Sundays i.e., on December 18 and December 25, Metro Railway sustained cent percent punctuality in its services," read the statement.
