Militant killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Aug 22 (IBNS): A militant has been killed during an encounter that is underway in Handwara area of frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir on Tuesday.

According to official, after “specific input” about the presence of some militants, who were hiding in Hingnikoot Ramhal area of Handwara, special Operations Group (SOG) Handwara and Army’s 6 RR cordoned off the area.

When forces were searching houses, the militants opened fire and one was killed in the firing that ensured.

Two to three militants are believed to be trapped inside the cordon, official added.
