Minor girl's body recovered in Kolkata, family claims sexual assault and murder

Kolkata/IBNS: The body of a nine-year-old girl, who went untraceable since Wednesday, was recovered from the stairs of a building in north Kolkata's Jorabagan area on Thursday morning, reports said.

According to reports, the minor girl, who was a resident of Sovabazar, went to her maternal-house at Baishnab Seth Street under Jorabagan Police Station limits and she went missing on Wednesday evening.

Later at night, a missing complaint was lodged at the local police station and on Thursday early morning, her body was found on the stairs of a nearby multi-storey, where no family stays.

Sources in the police said that a deep wound was found on her neck.

Family members of the girl alleged that she was sexually assaulted and murdered.

Later on Thursday, Joint CP (Crime) of Kolkata Police, Murli Dhar Sharma, and West Bengal Minister of State for Women and Child Development, and Social Welfare, Shashi Panja, visited the scene.

Police have initiated a probe into the matter.
