Mishap averted at Kolkata airport
Kolkata, Nov 29 (IBNS): Passengers onboard Air India's Dimapur-Dibrugarh-Kolkata flight had a narrow escape on Saturday after smoke detected in the plane's deflated tyre while landing at the Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose airport.
According to reports, the flight landed at around 3:20 pm and the plane was taxing on the taxi bay when the pilot felt that the rear wheels on the left had deflated.
The smoke possibly started out of friction, airport sources said.
Emergency services — fire brigade and ambulances — were pressed into service as soon as the incident came to light.
The pilot has been learnt, immediately informed the ground engineers, who took charge of the situation, the airline said.
All 133 passengers disembarked the plane safely, the airline said.
