Kolkata, Mar 13 (IBNS): The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) on Friday named senior party leader and Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal assembly Surya Kanta Mishra as the new state secretary of the party's West Bengal unit.

He will replace Biman Basu.

Basu had been serving as the state secretary since 2006.
