Mizoram: Drugs worth Rs 57 lakh seized, two persons held

Aizawl/IBNS: Troops of Assam Rifles had seized huge quantities of heroin worth over Rs 57 lakh in Mizoram.

The security personnel had seized heroin weighing about 128 grams from Bawngkawn Shalom area in Aizawl, Mizoram and the market value of the seized drugs is estimated Rs 57.60 lakh.

Based on an intelligence input, the troops of Assam Rifles and Mizoram Excise and Narcotics Department had jointly launched an operation at Bawngkawn Shalom area and seized the contraband drugs and also apprehended two persons.

Later the seized drugs and apprehended persons were handed over to the Narcotics department for further action.
