New Delhi/IBNS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday departed for a two-day State visit to Israel at the invitation of his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu, with an aim to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across key sectors.

Ahead of his departure, Modi said he looks forward to enhancing collaboration in areas such as science and technology, innovation, agriculture, water management, defence and security, trade and investment, as well as people-to-people ties.

“India and Israel share a robust and multifaceted Strategic Partnership that has witnessed remarkable growth and dynamism in recent years,” the Prime Minister said in his departure statement.

During the visit, Modi is scheduled to meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog and hold discussions on expanding the scope of bilateral engagement.

In a historic move, Modi will also become the first Indian Prime Minister to address the Israeli Parliament, known as the Knesset.

The address is expected to highlight the strong democratic traditions and parliamentary ties shared by the two nations.

The Prime Minister will also interact with members of the Indian diaspora in Israel, acknowledging their role in strengthening the special friendship between the two countries.

“I am confident that my State Visit will further consolidate the enduring bonds between the two countries, set new goals for the Strategic Partnership, and advance our shared vision for a resilient, innovative and prosperous future,” Modi said.
