Modi highlights issues like global warming, technology and terrorism in his World Economic Forum speech

Davos, Jan 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the issue of global warming is a major threat to the world today.

He also named terrorism as another major trouble faced by the world.

Modi addressed at the plenary of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

"Global Warming is a major threat today," Modi said.

"We the human are children of Mother Earth," he said.

He said the selfishness and greed of human beings have led to the conflict with Mother Nature.

"Yoga and ayurveda can heal the fracture created between man and nature," he said.

He highlighted his government's aim of producing 175 GW of renewable energy by 2022.

Modi said: "India is giving great importance to renewable energy."

Modi is the first Indian PM to participate in the forum in 21 years.

He said the issue of technology is playing an important role in all aspects of society today.

"Today, every aspect of the society is technology driven," Modi said.

He said controlling data is very crucial.

Speaking on terrorism, he said: "Terrorism is dangerous. Worse is when people say there is a difference between 'good' and 'bad' terror. It is painful to see some youngsters getting radicalised."
