New Delhi, Apr 13 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday saluted the martyrs of the brutal killings of innocent people at Punjab's Jallianwala Bagh by British soldiers in colonial India.

The incident drew wide outrage as several notable Indians critised it openly, the most significant being Rabindranath Tagore, the Noble Prize winning poet, denouncing his Knighthood.

"Saluting the martyrs of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. Their valour & heroism will never be forgotten," Modi tweeted.
