Mughals, Britishers weakened Indian economy: Yogi Adityanath

| @indiablooms | Sep 28, 2019, at 12:51 pm

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has recently blamed the Mughal and British rules in India for the country's poor economic state, media reports said.

Adityanath, a leader of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said as quoted by Times Now, "India was the largest stakeholder in the world economy with over 36 per cent share during Mughal era and by the time they left and Britishers came, India's share got reduced to 20 per cent."

He blamed the Britishers for taking the economy down to four per cent.

Earlier, the Chief Minister had said Uttar Pradesh will alone become one trillion dollar economy in the country, adding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's aspiration of making India's economy worth Rs. 5 trillion dollar.

In an anti-climax to Modi's hope, the Gross Domestic Production (GDP) in the first quarters of fiscal year 2019-2020 fell to 5 per cent, the lowest in past few years.
