Mukul Roy targets Mamata, her nephew Abhishek in first BJP rally

In his first rally as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Mukul Roy alleged that the Trinamool Congress's mouthpiece Jago Bangla is a "private company" which is owned and run by Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee.

He also alleged that that Biswa Bangla, which organised the U-17 World Cup Football, was owned by her nephew.

“Biswa Bangla is a private company owned by Abhishek Banerjee. Even the TMC mouthpiece Jago Bangla is owned by Mamata’s nephew," he said.

Roy, who joined the BJP last week, said Mamata is no longer the same person with whom he fought the Left Front.

He also mocked the WB CM's trip to London beginning Saturday.

“She failed in fetching Indian industrial investments to Bengal. Is she now trying to get British investments?” he asked.

Mukul Roy, who was suspended from the Trinamool Congress (TMC), quit as the Rajya Sabha MP last month.

Reacting to the allegations, West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee dared Roy to prove his allegations.

“I would resign from my post if he proves his allegations. Mukul Roy has forgotten our past," he said.

Mamata also dismissed all allegations of Roy as baseless.

Speaking at the inauguration of the 23rd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), “I don’t go abroad too often. I visit abroad once a year. This year, I visited the United Nations to accept an award given to our Kanyashree project,” she said.

Mamata will leave for London on Friday night where a plaque will be placed at the residence of Sister Nivedita.
