Mukul says he is not heartbroken with TMC's decision to remove him from key post
Kolkata, Mar 10 (IBNS): Senior Trinamool Congress leader Mukul Roy, who was recently removed from the post of national general secretary of the party, has said he is not heartbroken by the decision and that the people will judge whether it was for good or bad.
The TMC MP, however, did not reveal his future plans.
"At present, I am the Member of Parliament representing the TMC Party," Roy said in an interview with CNN-IBN.
Speaking about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's much-talked meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said he welcomes the move as it is something desirable in a democratic set up.
"It is a healthy sign in the federal structure. It is obvious that the CM of a state will meet the PM with the problems of the state. Better late than never," said he.
On being asked whether he felt heartbroken with the recent decision of TMC to remove him from the top post as well as on the rift between him and Banerjee, Roy told the channel: "I am taking it sportingly, I am not heartbroken. The decision will be judged by the people of the country."
Roy said he felt TMC should not have opposed the President's statement in the Parliament.
"It is against the convention and hurts the prestige of both the Parliament and the President. I voted in favour of the party because there was a whip although I personally feel it was wrong to do so," Roy told the channel.
He also said Banerjee will make a mistake if she tries to advance the West Bengal polls.
"Advancing elections means they are afraid of the new incumbency. Elections should not be preponed as the the youth will get angry and feel their rights are violated," Roy added.
