In a shocking incident, a 64-year-old widow was allegedly abducted and gang-raped by at least two to three youths in Trombay area of north-east Mumbai late on Monday night, officials said here on Tuesday.

Local Trombay police station has registered an offence of abduction and gang rape and detained a 20-year-old boy, and he is being interrogated for details of his accomplices.

According to police the victim's daughter, her mother had gone to pray at a nearby Khandoba Temple in Nehru Nagar area of Kurla.

From there, at least 3 persons are said to have abducted the widow and forced her to go with them to an isolated spot near Thane Creek in Trombay.

There, they brutally raped her and repeatedly hammered her on the face, head, private parts and limbs, as she fell and lost consciousness in the deserted creek area, without anything on her body.

Suspecting her to be dead, the unidentified trio fled from the spot under cover of darkness, as per the complaint by the daughter.

On Tuesday morning a morning walker had happened to see the elderly woman, without any clothes, bleeding and begging for help immediately police was informed and police took the victim to the BMC's Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, and she will undergo a CT scan for her head injuries.

The woman and her daughter, along with 9-year-old granddaughter live alone and earn a living selling fish in the local market.
